Trump’s Separating the Neighborhood & the Nation – What can we do to prevent that? Community Discussion

Will you allow Trump to separate your neighborhood?

This is a strange time the last two years, I’ve seen neighbors argue in the street about politics, and what’s going on with the Trump Administration. I have even seen some neighbors of mine cross the street when they seen another political party coming towards them on the same sidewalk. I certainly believe that each person should have the right of an opinion, and we should respect that right. I believe that the Houston Heights and Montrose area is above brawling in the streets and ripping each other’s throats out simply for a different political view point. I understand that this is a passionate point, but I also understand they were all in this together. I think what makes this great country great, is the people inside it. yeah we have a president does some different things unlike any other president, but maybe that’s a good thing or maybe that’s a bad thing. Only time will tell, but what I do know is I don’t want the Houston Heights, Montrose, or ¬†any neighborhood in the nation to be separated simply because of politics.here are some things that we can do to better ourselves

In your opinion, what do you think we can do as a community to prevent political separation or treat in the community?

I think just be cautious with our words, and understand words can hurt sometimes

Think for yourself. Don’t allow anyone else (especially the media and political groups) to dictate how you feel or believe. That gives them power over you.
Understand that you are entitled to your beliefs and opinions and that everyone else is entitled to theirs, regardless of whether you agree with them or not.
Set the bar high. Treat everyone with respect regardless of how they treat you. Be a positive influence.
Be willing to have honest discussions with those who disagree. Try to find common ground if possible.

I love your statement about having an honest discussion with those who disagree, but so many people don’t want to even hear another person’s point of view. I sometimes a wish someone can persuade me to feel otherwise, and have an open mind to all political points of views.
