Houston Heights Lights in The Heights – 2021 Update

This year The Annual Lights in the Heights 2021 will take place on Saturday, December 11, starting at 9 PM. The streets that will call the attention to will be Byrne and Euclid from Studewood to Beauchamp. In that order, the late hour for the event was choose because there are some details that still getting together, but the team of volunteers are willing to give a unique experience for this year Lights in the Heights! if you want to keep it up wit with the event please check the website in real time to get more info.

This December we are celebrating 28 years of this celebration, that’s why The Woodland Heights Civic Association are making sure to everybody know that the event it is still on even though they want to make it smaller compared to past years, that’s the reason why the publicity has been low, they don’t want a big crowd, just a manageable scale of people, that caused confusion between the Houstonians. But don’t worry, the event is happening like every year so our neighbors from other areas of the Heights can come and enjoy the beautiful Christmas décor of historic homes while sip hot chocolate during this magical time of the year.

In the beginning, the Lights of the Heights were a block party in the neighborhood but it grew into a really big event with thousands of visitors, the sad part is that became a little too much for some of the local homeowners, they reported drunk people, destroy of personal property, private parties crashes and general trouble. So please, if you are planning to attend this year, keep in mind that this is a neighborhood and the lights are on family houses.

Other tip you got to know is that the road closures along the route will be beginning at 5:00, there’s gonna be parking’s on nearby areas. So don’t block driveways and observe all posted parking restrictions.

We hope you enjoy the lights, have a wonderful night and happy holidays.

Lights in the Heights

Our Woodland Heights neighbors have been suffering with traffic congestion problems and how hard (nearly impossible) it is to have two-way traffic flow with parking on both sides. Blocked driveways made them sick!

To improve this situation, they set one-way traffic flow with parking on both sides for almost every east-west street t in 2018. Bayland, Pecore, and White Oak remain as two-way streets.

There was limited parking available within the neighborhood. Zones with parking permissions included at Vineyard Church, Zion Church (fee applies), Woodland Park, and Stude Park.

Bike Houston used to provide secure bike parking at the North end of the Norhill Esplanade. A partnership with Lyft allows helping visitors get to and from Lights in the Heights safely.
